      Description

Join us for a tasting to celebrate Italy! Representing the best of Italian fine wines, the Italian Signature Wines Academy is a collective of family-owned wineries who act as the guardians for authentic Italian wines. Wine.com host Gwendolyn Osborn leads this tasting with winery guests from this special group as they taste the Bellavista Franciacorta Alma Cuvee Brut from Lombardy, the Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Marina Cvetic Riserva from Abruzzo, and the Allegrini Amarone from Veneto.

      Watch the tasting here.

      Guests include:

      • Vitaliano Tirrito, Export Director, Bellavista
      • Miriam Lee Masciarelli, Producer, Masciarelli
      • Marilisa Allegrini, Producer, Allegrini
      • Hosted by: Gwendolyn Osborn, Wine Educator, Wine.com

      Tasting Set Includes:

      • Bellavista Franciacorta Alma Cuvee Brut
This cuvée embodies the quintessence of Franciacorta and the ideal harmony behind every Bellavista Franciacorta Method wine. It is made from mostly chardonnay grapes, followed by pinot nero and a small proportion of pinot bianco. The wine is a straw yellow color with greenish highlights and a fine, continuous bead. Ample and enveloping, the aromas range from ripe fruit to fresh flowers, all the way to vanilla and pastry. In the mouth, it is mineral and sensorily complete, fresh and vibrant, and very consistent from an aromatic perspective. Long, harmonious finish.
      • Masciarelli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Marina Cvetic Riserva
This wine represents an intense and remarkable expression of Abruzzo’s main variety. The 100% Montepulciano d'Abruzzo comes from 8 of the estate's top parcels and truly represents the summit of what Montepulciano can achieve. Villa Gemma may be the most famous Montepulciano produced by Masciarelli, the only Italian wine to win the coveted Tre Bicchieri award 14 times (and counting), but many view the Marina Cvetic Montepulciano as its equal in quality, differing only in style, and often benefiting from the fact it is blended from parcels crossing a range of altitudes and soils.
      • Allegrini Amarone
The result of the Allegrini family’s expertise, a true classic of the appellation, this red wine embraces tradition, territory and the know-how of country ways. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta are left to air dry at least until December and are checked daily to ensure perfectly healthy grapes. Lengthy refining and ageing finally yields a red wine that has become emblematic of Italian oenology, alongside Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino. It has imposing structure and depth, as much in its aromas of mature fruit and spices, as on the palate, where the alcohol is sustained by the right degree of acidity and refined tannins.
