Lovely ripe and expressive nose, quite full and exotic - lemon, lime, mandarin, grapefruit and pineapple - such complexity on the nose. This is so alive, really high acidity balanced by lush juicy fruit. Round but light on the palate, such energy and verve with good background of salinity and touch of oak adding definition and structure. This is fun and fruit forward. A bright wine that wants to come out and play. But it's the sweet, honeyed edge of the fruit that's the best, it captures interest and holds it all the way. Almost a touch of lemon sherbert on the end. Drink now for high acid and upfront freshness or hold on to.

A bright, vivid white with pineapple and sliced peaches. Medium-to full-bodied with lots of fruit and intensity.

A blend of 88% Sauvignon Blanc and 12% Sauvignon Gris, the 2019 Blanc was harvested from the 9th to 17th of September. The yields were 60 hectoliters per hectare this year with about 53% of production going into the grand vin. The nose sets off at a good gallop with expressive notes of allspice, ginger ale, lemon tart and baked pears with hints of pie crust and paraffin wax. Medium-bodied, the palate is crisp, clean and refreshing with plenty of spicy sparks and great length.

The 2019 Château Puygueraud Blanc is terrific, with a racy, vibrant, tart style that makes it a joy to drink today. Bright lemon, citrus, and grapefruit notes define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied, balanced, and has a clean, dry finish.

Chateau Puygueraud is located in one of the smallest of the Bordeaux appellations, Cotes de Francs. With only 450 hectares, this appelation resembles a small independent state and occupies the highest slopes of the Gironde, halfway between the valleys of the Isle and the Dordogne, to the east of Saint Emilion. Created in 1967, the appellation is very much part of the Bordelais family, its wines having the precision of the best Bordeaux. Humble pearl of the Bordelais vineyards, the Cotes de Francs is nevertheless one of its most precious stones.

Sometimes light and crisp, other times rich and creamy, Bordeaux White Blends typically consist of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. Often, a small amount of Muscadelle or Sauvignon Gris is included for added intrigue. Popularized in Bordeaux, the blend is often mimicked throughout the New World. Somm Secret—Sauternes and Barsac are usually reserved for dessert, but they can be served before, during or after a meal. Try these sweet wines as an aperitif with jamón ibérico, oysters with a spicy mignonette or during dinner alongside hearty Alsatian sausage.
