Winemaker Notes
The Maiden represents the second selection from the estate. It is a highly detailed and sumptuous wine, remarkably faithful to the vineyard's pedigree. Accordingly, the resemblance to her "big sister" is unmistakable.
Professional Ratings

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Readers should not overlook the dense purple-colored 1997 Maiden, a creamy-textured, full-bodied, unctuously thick, rich wine. Jammy cassis, new oak, smoke, and espresso notes explode from the glass of this blockbuster. An amazing effort, it will drink well when released, and last for two decades.
-
Wine Spectator
A touch austere, with a trim, focused band of earthy, cedary currant, sage, dill and cherry flavors, gaining depth and turning elegant and supple.
