The 2021 Jean Faure is beautiful, bursting from the glass with aromas of raspberries and mulberries mingled with rose petals, lilac and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with a fleshy core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, perfumed finish, this estate's singular Cabernet Franc-dominated style has synergized with the vintage.

Buzzy, bright and playful, this has a joyous sense to it both on the nose and on the initial impact in the mouth. Such lifted and vibrant cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, lightly framed, but pure, creamy and persistent. It's not weighty or dense but the flavors are lovely, also with clear spice markers from the Cabernet Franc in the green pepper, licorice and toasted backbone. Some austerity pokes through, a combination of the high acidity and terroir, but this will soften. Well worked with personality.

This has an attractive nose of cherries, orange zest, red plums and sage. Bright, fruity and open with fine tannins, a medium body and delicious finish. From organically grown grapes.

From a vineyard next to Ripeau and slightly more sandy soils, the 2021 Château Jean Faure is a pretty, slightly simple, yet balanced and elegant red offering light red fruits (strawberries), medium-bodied richness, tons of sappy flower nuances (no doubt due to its high Cabernet Franc content), supple tannins, and a pretty, straight, ready-to-go style. The blend is 60% Cabernet Franc, 33% Merlot, and 7% Malbec, and I wouldn't be surprised to see this end up being an outstanding wine, although I don't see it making old bones either.
