James Suckling
Poised and focused, this is a young red that shows great complexity and style with lots of blackberry, mint, spice and rosemary aromas that follow through to a full body, chewy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Needs two to four years to soften. Rivals Antinori's Solaia in 2012. Try in 2017.
-
Wine Spectator
Alluring violet, black currant, blackberry, wild herb, spice and mineral aromas coat the dense underlying structure at first, but the latter emerges as this cruises to a long conclusion. Shows excellent balance and expression of fruit and place. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2018 through 2033.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2012 Bolgheri Superiore Guado Al Tasso is a wine to fall in love with at first sight. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot offers enormous fullness and generosity that accompanies all the senses. The effect is seamless with thick extraction and richness that is contrasted against the tonic freshness of the fruit. The wine is creamy, soft and enduring. You can count on this vintage to age ten years or more.

Wine Enthusiast
Made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a drop of Petit Verdot, this structured red opens with aromas of exotic spice, pressed flower, dark berry and graphite. The concentrated palate offers black cherry, crushed plum, espresso and licorice. Round, smooth tannins balance the rich flavors.

Wine & Spirits
The warm 2012 growing season shows in the lush ripeness of this Bordeaux blend, comprised of 55 percent cabernet sauvignon with a quarter merlot and 18 percent cabernet franc. Notes of dried leaves, black tea and orange zest meld with the brambly black fruit flavors, while a layer of dark chocolate adds richness to a wine that one of our tasters deemed “indulgent.”

The Guado al Tasso Estate is located in the prestigious Bolgheri DOC, part of the Tuscan coastal area of Maremma, known for its untamed landscape and unspoiled beauty. Just 60 miles southwest of Florence, it sits on a magnificent plain in the heart of the Bolgheri amphitheater, a natural phenomenon created by hills that embrace the sea and produce a mild and temperate microclimate. Blessed with ample sunshine and constant breezes that take the edge off the summer heat and winter cold, Guado al Tasso is the ideal environment for cultivating healthy vine growth and proper ripening of the estate’s grapes. Inherited from Carlotta della Gherardesca, and revolutionized by Niccoló Antinori, the mother and father of Piero Antinori, Guado al Tasso is a reference point property in the life and history of the family. Here the challenge is to create wines of absolute excellence, always representative of the Bolgheri history, culture, and winemaking traditions.
