Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

Sourced from a small selection of our favourite Semillon blocks, the grapes were both hand and machine picked before gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then spent a few months on yeast lees to gain extra complexity and mouth feel.

Professional Ratings

Pale yellow. Lemon zest, pear skin, chamomile and a hint of beeswax on the incisive, mineral-accented nose. Taut and energetic in the mouth, offering chewy orchard and citrus fruit flavors that deepen and spread out with air. The mineral and pear notes drive the long, focused, chewy finish, which shows fine definition and floral lift.

Tyrrell's Wines, Australia
Tyrrell's Wines Winery Video

In 1858, Edward Tyrrell planted his first vines in the Hunter Valley. In 1959, Murray Tyrrell took control of the winery and started producing Tyrrell’s wines under their own labels. Tyrrell’s pioneered Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in Australia and quickly received international recognition. While remaining a family company, Tyrrell’s has reached out to larger wine markets: in recent years, it has expanded its traditional Hunter Valley vineyard base to other famous vineyard areas in Australia.
