Winemaker Notes

The Wittmann Estate Riesling Trocken is harvested by hand from estate-owned vineyards around the village of Westhofen. It is fermented with native yeasts and matured in large, neutral oak casks. The wine shows a deep, stony aroma, with an elegant structure and bright citrus juice that leads to a lingering, piquant finish.

James Suckling
Wonderful peach, melon and floral nose. Concentrated, racy and filigree with intense, chalky minerality at the long, polished and playful finish.

Furthermore, the microclimate of the Rheinhessen region is especially mild ...ideal conditions that enable us to produce brilliant wines utilizing our enthusiasm for ecological, and since 2004, biodynamic cultivation of the soil and gentle, painstaking cellar procedures.

Slow fermentation and lengthy aging in the cellar’s constant temperatures preserve aromas. This is how Wittmann wines achieve their unmistakable expression, which nevertheless varies from year to year.
